You don’t have to blow your budget ripping out walls and redoing floors just to upgrade the appearance of your home. Here are a few tips to help you in your upgrade adventures.

Paint

The first tip is to add a fresh coat of paint to a room. This is something that you will be able to do especially if you are on a budget. It is a good idea to go with a color that is relaxing because it will be a color that you will be able to live with for a long period of time. You should think about using a paint that has primer in it. This is because you will get better coverage with each stroke of paint that you make with the paint.

Counter tops

The second tip is to paint your countertops. This is especially good if it is not in your budget to replace the countertops. A lot of people are going to paint them if they are a very dark color and they are wanting to brighten up their kitchen a little bit. This is something that you are going to be able to do over the weekend unlike if you tried to rip out the counter tops to replace them. Plus you will be able to save a lot of money by not replacing the counter tops and just painting them. The counter is a place where a lot of people will talk, eat, share collaboration tips, build things, do puzzles and more. Choosing a good countertop color and material is vital to creating an inviting space for people to congregate to.

Lighting

The third tip is to add some different types of lighting or ceiling fans into the home. It is a good idea to use a ceiling fan with a light that will add some lighting to your home and you will be able to cool off with on those hot days of summer. You would be surprised how much a different light in a room is going to totally change the look of the room. This is especially true if you had a lot of old lights in the room that are begging to be updated. It is also a good idea to replace any of the old chandeliers that you might have inside of your home.

Couches

As couches get older, they begin to lose their original color and shape. If you find your couch in this situation, then it might be a sign that it’s time to start looking for a new one, even if it’s still incredibly comfortable. If finances don’t allow you to purchase a new couch, then you can look for options to cover up the old one, such as designer pillows, designer blankets, or even a couch protector.

Faucets

The fourth tip is to replace the faucets that you have in your bathroom and kitchen. Not only is this going to look better, it will also help the functionality of your home. There are times in your kitchen if you have an older faucet that you are not going to be able to get your pots underneath the faucet. This is something that can be very aggravating when you are trying to wash the dishes. There are a variety of different types of faucets so you will be able to find one that fits into the budget that you have.

Hardware

The fifth tip is to update any of the old hardware that you have inside of the room. But you are going to need to think about the fact that the new hardware might not match the old fixtures that you have in the home. There is a chance that the holes are not going to line up properly for the new hardware. Therefore, it might be a good idea to spray paint the old hardware so that it looks new. Plus you will come out a lot cheaper with the paint then replacing all of the hardware. You just need to make sure that everything is going to match when you are done painting.
