I’m Blushing!

Blush can make or break your look. Properly placed and blended blush makes you look fresh and alive, but poorly applied blush looks worse than wearing no blush at all. It’s a tricky product to wear well, but fortunately there are a bunch of newly launched blushes that flatter all skin tones and practically blend themselves. Here are the best new products for getting that warm summer flush.

ABH’s Blush Trios

Beauty fans waited for months to finally get their hands on the Anastasia Beverly Hills blush trios, and they were not disappointed. Each compact contains three blushes in complementary yet distinct tones. Peachy Love is perfect for summer, with its mix of apricot and coral shades. The deeper Berry Adore set is sure to be popular this winter. The powders have a natural satin finish and sweep smoothly over the skin. The colors in each compact build and layer seamlessly with each other. The pigmentation and unique colors would work well with your favorite lipsense from your local LipSense distributor. You’ll have a full face of bright color that never fades.

Benefit’s Galifornia

Galifornia is another stellar entry into Benefit’s beloved staple of boxed blushes. This one is a deep coral that verges on red. It has a golden sun embossed on the top, and gold shimmer is dispersed throughout the powder. The girl on the front of the box tells you everything you need to know about this blush. You’ll look and feel like a cute, carefree beach babe with this color on your cheeks. This isn’t the blush for serious fashionistas. It’s for women who enjoy looking like they’ve spent time outdoors. Galifornia girls want to be covered in gold glitter. Galifornia even smells like beachy coconuts.

Becca’s Chrissy Teigen Palette

This Becca palette, which was developed in collaboration with model Chirssy Teigen, gives you that perfect summer glow. Ostensibly a set of highlighters, these powders are bright and pigmented enough to wear on their own without any blush underneath. The palette contains two large highlighters. One is a pinky rose gold and the other is a peachy champagne glimmer. The smaller pans contain a soft bronzer with deep brown undertones and a magenta coral blush.

Glossier Cloud Paint

Cream blush formulations are having a bit of a moment. Powders were the previous preference, since they are easier to layer over foundations and setting powders. Cream blushes and cheek tints would either move foundation around or dry too quickly, creating a blotchy mess. However, brands have stepped up their game and this year’s creamy blushes blend out like a dream. Glossier’s Cloud Paint epitomizes everything good about a well-formulated liquid blush. It melts into the skin like a sheer tint. The edges blend completely away so you can’t tell where you ended your application. It really does look like an extension of your own skin.

Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Blush

These Butter Blushes are the sequel to Physicians Formula’s instantly iconic Murumuru Butter Bronzer. Like the bronzer, the Butter Blushes swipe onto the skin smoothly with no unevenness or patchiness, which is unusual for a creamy powder that contains moisturizing ingredients. All four shades in the line are very sheer and natural looking. The idea is to create a sun-kissed flush to go with your bronzey glow. The powders have a satiny sheen that looks like your skin but better. They are not particularly bold or buildable, but they are not supposed to be. They are meant to make you look like you were too busy having fun to put on makeup.

For a fun twist, try applying your blush high and back on your cheekbones instead of starting at the apples and blending it back. This keeps the product away from the center of your face, making you look like you’re wearing less makeup. These new releases breathed life into a category of makeup that isn’t always exciting. The updated formats and foolproof finishes make blush fun again.
