Introduction

We live in the information age. Information that used to take an afternoon of searching a card catalog at the library to find, can now be found in a simple internet search. This generation of college kids do not know how wonderful they have it, especially when considering helpful search engines like Google Chrome. Chrome is one of the newest search engines available on computers and it has many super convenient options to use to help you with your research. There are many different Google Chrome features that most people don’t even know about but can be incredibly helpful. Continue on to see what they are!

Incognito Mode

Have you ever needed to search something but didn’t really want it to pop up in your recently searched items. For example, searching for an engagement ring or the perfect way to pop the question? Or maybe you’re searching for the perfect Christmas gift and you don’t want your significant other to know. This is what is perfect about Google Chromes option for incognito mode. It opens a separate incognito browser that doesn’t show your browsing history, without the hassle of having to delete your history!

OmniBox

Did you know that searching the Google bar at the top of the search page is the exact same thing as searching the Google bar on the google homepage? You can save yourself a lot of time and steps by just utilizing that search bar rather than backing your way back to the search bar or starting a whole new page! This is super convenient when you are researching for long papers or just need to search for a few quick things. Especially convenient on smart phones, less loading time for sure!

Right Click Search Google

You’re searching a page and come across a word that you don’t know. It’s like fifteen letters long and you have no idea what it means. You search for a piece of paper and a pen and write it down. That way when you open a new google page to search what it means you have the exact spelling of this long, unknown word. Don’t waste your time! Did you know on Google Chrome you can literally, highlight the unknown word, and right click. There will be an option called, search Google. Instant access to everything that Google knows about that complicated, unknown, fifteen letter word!

Along with this option, if you would rather open the search in a new tab so that you can keep your current page as well as the new search page for the fifteen letter word, that is an option as well. You would just choose the option to open a search in a new tab, rather than search Google!

Inspect Elements

One other great option for the more techy Google Chrome user is the inspect elements option. Have you ever needed to see the exact coding for a certain element on a webpage. Possibly it is your own web page that you are redesigning or are helping edit. Utilizing Google Chrome you can easily do this by clicking on the element, right clicking, and click on inspect element. On the right hand side of the page, a window will appear that shows all the elements, and highlights which are being used when you drag your mouse over it. Super handy!

Conclusion

In this day and age of technology and knowledge there is no reason that any college student is not getting their papers written. With the convenience and quick access to the knowledge that Google Chrome provides, it makes things even easier by offering handy features that most people didn’t even know existed but would definitely use if they did! Check out these features and the many more that Google Chrome offers today!
